Woke Up

Glass of water with slice of fresh lemon

8.00am- Breakfast

Organic natural plain yoghurt with 1/2 cup organic blueberries
sprinkled with a teaspoon of body brillance

11.30am - Mid Morning Snack

handful (10g) of pumpkin kernels, pitashio kernels & goji berries

(all unsalted and natural)

Cup of coffee

12.30pm - Lunch

steamed spinach and ricotta cheese

3.00pm - Mid afternoon Snack

Cup of organic green tea

5.00pm - Dinner

100g grilled free range chicken breast with steamed brocolli and 10 pitashio kernels

SUPPLEMENTS

1 teaspoon of body brillance sprinkled on yoghurt

2 x multioptimum with iron tablets (one with breakfast & one with dinner)

WORKOUT

I woke up with a sore bum and thighs from yesterday's fat burner workout

so I did light walking today for 30 mins

CURRENT STATUS

Height - 176cm / 5"9.5

Weight - 64kg

Waist - 86cm / 34.5"

CHANGES

Its only been just one day and my diet definitely keeps me fuller till my next meal,

I don't have any cravings for sweets (and I am a real sweet tooth)

definitely dont feel bloated

glass of ultimate cleam fibre with warm water (at breakfast)

2 x multioptimum with iron tablets (one with breakfast & one with dinner)

and trying to get my bikini body ready !

I have taken the clean & lean approach from Bodyism, after reading the clean and lean books by James, it just makes so much sense. So I'm going to put this into practice and will blog my process for 14 days.

Spreading Our Wings

I know in the past year, I have been abit slack with my blogging and I hope this is something

I can keep up in 2012. I will also not just be blogging about makeup and beauty but all sorts of things, I have decided 2012 is the year that I spread my wings.

I have always been a creative person, at a young age I loved drawing, art, painting, making designs, as well as cooking and baking (at one stage, I wanted to be a chef). I always studied practical subjects during my school years opposed to theory and it has always been something I truly enjoyed, hence the reason why I wanted to become a makeup artist.

So this year I will be adding event planning as well as lolly/dessert buffets to my list of services .. and if you don't think this is creative, wait and see !

Sweeney Management Launch

I helped out with the makeup for Miss Tez Makeup Artistry for the Sweeney Management Launch held at the Piano Room in Kings Cross.

Terri could not have put together a better team of hair and makeup artists, everyone was so lovely, easy going and very friendly, and Terri herself I found to be a very bubbly, outgoing person with a beauty personality (a bunch of great peeps I would defintely and highly recommend and would love to work with again)

As I expected the models whom I did makeup for were absolutlely stunning with such great personalities, they did a great job strutting their stuff down the runway wearing Coco Riche Swimwear, The Bedroom and Hart & Huntington with alot confidence.

Overall I think Sweeney Management had a successful launch, the turnout of guests was great with the venue being absolutely packed.

Beauty Photoshoot

My favourite type of photo shoot to work on is a beauty photo shoot, especially when the looks are entirely up to me and I can take it anywhere from very natural to very creative.

If you a interested in these kind of photos for your portfolio or just to have some nice photos of yourself, the photographer for this is Stuart Watts.

I met Stuart on my first beauty shoot while I was studying Makeup Artistry back in 2009, and since then have worked with him on several occasions. I have always been satisfied with the outcome of the photos as he gives them a soft, feminine feel.

Also, lucky enough, I couldn't ask for better models than the two I was able to work with, Amie Moynihan & Tanjhena Hughes, both with flawless skin and stunning features, great personality & work ethic and very good at what they do. I highly recommend working with both. I can see great things for them in this industry.

Applying False Lashes - My Way

This blog post is all about applying false eyelashes, I apply false lashes at 95% of my makeup jobs and most of the time my clients have never worn them, and want to know how to apply them, so this is a how-to but my way.

For those of us that are not blessed with full sky-high lashes, thankfully False Eyelashes can make your eyes look bigger, fuller and more inviting, they come in various styles, colours and sizes. If you learn how to put them on correctly, no one will even guess that they are not yours, and plus they look Sexy !

So ... What do you Need ?

Small pair of small scissors

Tweezers

Eyelash Adhesive

Eyelash Curler

Mascara

A pair of false eyelashes

I like to use Half Lashes, they only need to be applied to the outer corners of your eye,

this is where most people want to add the little extra fullness,

I reccommend Half lashes by Cara K, they come in 2 styles - Natural & Daring

I use the natural styles for special occasions and on brides and the Daring Style for photoshoots and runway

Step One

Complete the entire eye makeup, gently curl your eyelashes using a eyelash curler and give a light coat of mascara

Step Two

Using tweezers, gently peel the eyelashes from the lash tray by holding them at the base of the band

Step Three

Apply a small dab of eyelash adhesive (latex) to your wrist or eyelash tray, Using a cotton tip, apply the adhsive to the eyelash band, Wait approximately 15 -30 seconds for the glue to become tacky, this will make it stick easier so it won't slide around

(Note - if you are not sure if you are allergic to latex, place a small dab on your wrist as a tester before applying the lashes to your eyes and please don't blow on the glue, if you are applying it on someone else, it's unhygenic)

Step Four

Apply the lashes to the outer corners of the eye lid, bring the band as close to your natural lash line as possible (I use my fingers to do this as I find I have more control) and wait a few seconds for the glue to dry

Step Five

Apply another coat of mascara to blend the eyelashes together

(I work quite quickly, ensuring that the first coat of mascara in step one has not

completely dried, otherwise it is a bit harder to blend them together)

and ..... Presto You did It !

If you find that you have any gaps between your natural lash line and the fake lashes, not to worry ! Fill the gaps with your eyeliner

My Story - The Beginning

Hi There Everyone,

Ok, so I am not a person everyone knows, and I dont expect everyone and anyone to know me. So this is why I have started this blog, so you all get to know who I am

My name is Amanda Johnson, I am 22 years old, I am Australian and live in the beautiful suburbs of Sydney. I am an extremely driven individual who is determined to be the best I can as a Makeup Artist. For many years, I have always taken an interest in makeup artistry, but in those years I did not do a thing to persue this.

This all started when I decided to take up modelling, A scout had approached me when I was 16 so I took it up and did some work, but I loved seeing all the makeup products and brushes laid out across the bench before a shoot, that is when i started taking an interest

In April 2009 the biggest tragedy of my life had happened suddenly, I had lost a loved one, my dear father. In just a blink of an eye with no warning what so ever, my life had already changed, and not until this happens you really understand that '' life is too short '', and because of this I decided not to waste anymore time and to take action and pursure my career as a professional makeup artist as i always been interested in.

In July, that same year I enrolled myself at the Artistry of Makeup Academy in Merrylands, Sydney. I studied My Certificate IV in Make-up, Design & Apply Specialised Makeup & Special FX Entertainment Makeup and further more Airbrush Spray Tanning. This college only has evening classes this is why i chose to study here. I highly reccommend this college to anyone wanting to pursue makeup artistry but are currently working full time ----> http://www.makeup.com.au/

Prior to my enrollment at the college, I studied makeup through practice and books.

Makeup: The Ultimate Guide by Rae Morris & Makeup Manual by Bobbi Brown were my first two puchases, they taught me so much about what I need to know and how to get started. Since then I am still learning through reading and my collection of books about makeup and beauty have grown. You can never learn so much.

So after only a few months in college, without even finishing my course, I decided to take the big step and start practicing what I have learnt in the classroom out of the classroom. I started my own freelancing business, which i am still doing today and have been lucky to working with some very talented photographers, fashion designers, models, magazines and brides. I love what I do and will continue to do so in the future

So here I am, making IT happen
